Joe Hensley was inducted into the Top Gun Hall of Fame in the Player category in recognition of an extraordinary career defined by excellence, consistency, and quiet leadership. One of the most respected competitors in senior softball, Joe combined elite performance with an unwavering commitment to his teammates and the game.
Over his career, Joe captured 10 SSUSA World Championships, earned more than 30 All-Tournament selections, and helped lead teams to numerous Tournament of Champions qualifying titles. He also went a perfect three-for-three at the Huntsman World Senior Games with Top Gun, earning gold medals in each appearance. His success across multiple teams and competitive levels reflects not only rare talent, but adaptability and a team-first mindset.
Beyond the accomplishments, Joe is revered as a mentor and teammate. Humble by nature, relentless in preparation, and dependable in the biggest moments, he earned the respect and endorsement of many of the game’s top players and managers. His mantra, “Be a monster on Sunday,” captures the standard he lived by: delivering when it mattered most.
Joe Hensley’s induction honors not only a Hall of Fame resume, but a Hall of Fame example of character, perseverance, and leadership within the Top Gun community.
In 2019, he joined the Top Gun Leadership team as Secretary, where his efforts were instrumental in restructuring the club into a 501(c)(7) non-profit, ensuring long-term sustainability. His dedication as Tournament Director helped secure the organization’s financial stability, overseeing logistics and operations to keep Top Gun-hosted events running smoothly.
A retired U.S. Navy aerospace maintenance officer with 24 years of service, Joel’s leadership, strategic vision, and tireless commitment have strengthened the foundation of Top Gun Senior Softball, making an indelible impact on both its present and future.
