Nicholas Kotas

2010

Col. Nicholas Kotas, inducted into the Top Gun Hall of Fame in 2010. Top Gun Hall of Fame Member John Irig summed it up best when he shared that “Nick Kotas was the man responsible for creating Top Gun Senior Softball in San Diego”. Col. Kotas spearheaded an idea that grew from an annual fundraising tournament for active duty military families at Miramar Naval Air Station to an association worthy of the name “Top Gun”. His leadership skills proved beneficial in creating an Association dedicated to senior softball in San Diego County and the vision to open the doors for players of all ages and abilities. As a player, Col. Kotas led by example both offensively and defensively. He anchored the first base position and was one of the strong offensive players on his team providing a powerful swing and a high batting average. Col. Kotas encouraged his teams to branch out and compete at the highest level within the SSUSA.
